Information You Provide
A name, phone number, or address entered into a search box is sent to the outside provider that returns results. Our servers do not retain a copy of those searches. If you contact us, the message contains only the details you choose to send and is used to respond.
Automatic Technical Data
Our host may record ordinary server information such as IP address, browser type, viewed pages, and timestamps. We use aggregate information to maintain the service and understand general use. Cookies or similar tools may support basic analytics and advertising measurement where used.
How Information Is Used
Information is used to operate and repair the service, measure traffic, and improve the reference material. We do not sell visitor lists or create individual visitor profiles.
Links to Other Websites
We link out to county and state records portals, library collections, archives, and third-party search tools. Their privacy policies, not ours, govern what you submit there. That is especially true of the sponsored search results, which a third-party company provides.
Service Providers and Disclosure
Hosting and support providers process server logs for the service. Analytics and advertising providers may receive the automatic technical data described above. We disclose information only when valid legal process requires it.
How We Protect Your Data
The site runs over an encrypted connection and logs are kept only as long as the purposes above need them. There are no accounts here, so no password or profile of yours exists on this site to be exposed.
Users Under 18
The site is meant for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18; if you believe a minor has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your Information Choices
Depending on the facts and applicable law, visitors may have rights to request access, correction, or deletion of personal data a service retains. Tennessee's Information Protection Act took effect July 1, 2025, but its scope and exemptions require a case-specific review. Because we retain very little, requests normally involve our contact mailbox and server logs. Use the Contact page to make a request. Tennessee state, Shelby County, and Memphis records remain under the control of their own custodians.
Policy Changes
Changes are posted here. Continuing to use the service after a revision means that the revised policy applies.
